February on Vancouver Island has certainly kept us on our toes this year, with record-breaking warm temperatures recorded across the Island in early February. It may have felt like an early hint of spring, with short sleeves making a rare mid-winter appearance!
But meteorologists (and even the marmots!) remind us that winter may not be finished just yet. A late-season chill could still be on the way.
Here’s an interesting Island fact: if we don’t see measurable snowfall this winter, it will be the first time since 1982–1983 that we’ve gone an entire season without snow. That’s over four decades!
Snow or no snow, February remains a time to embrace family and community, enjoy the cozy rhythm of late winter, and look for small ways to support and connect with those around us.
We hope you all enjoyed a Happy Family Day long weekend!
