This spring marks my second year coaching Rally Cap baseball and my fifth year sponsoring Ladysmith Baseball. Between teaching five-year-olds which way to run and helping them build confidence with a glove and bat, it’s often like herding cats—but it’s incredibly rewarding. Youth sports thrive because volunteers step up. Watching these kids develop over a single season reminds me how important it is to support local sport and create the childhood experiences we want for the next generation.
